Resource/Fundraising Coordinator

Colin joined the cross country team in high school for the same reason many runners do; he did not make the soccer team. Instead of getting to play a fun game on the soccer pitch, he fell in love with running in an oval shape around it over and over again. The switch to running was natural and for the best. His favorite memories of sports as a kid consist of running around the bases faster than everyone else, timing himself on the microwave as he ran a half mile lap in the neighborhood, and running down other players during soccer.

During his high school career, Colin ran at New Balance Indoor Nationals in the Emerging Elite Mile, won an outdoor state title as part of the 4x800m team, and secured the Virginia state meet qualifying time standard 10 times. Colin committed to George Mason University where he ran cross country and track for three of his four years. He’s most proud of his 26:20 8k time at Appalachian State’s cross country course where he secured his spot on Mason’s IC4A Cross Country Championship team. Eventually, injuries and a previously undetected kidney disease forced him to end his NCAA running career earlier than planned.

After college, Colin played soccer for a number of years until he suffered a shoulder injury during a game that he is definitely not still mad about. He started to run again during recovery and felt the fire of unfinished business start to burn. During his first racing season back, Colin ran 16:10 in the 5k at Parkway Classic and 26:47 at the Shamrock 8k. Staying true to his previous running career trends, he injured his foot a few months later and spent 2020 and 2021 recovering. Colin is now slowly building his mileage back, looking forward to racing again, and is happy to show his support for NOVA Running Club as their Resources/Fundraising Coordinator.
