Winter 2015 has been rough here in the DMV. Snow, ice and single digit temperatures have made it difficult to run outside and have even led to canceled track sessions. Luckily, there appears to be an indoor option that does not include the use of a treadmill. NOVA member Lisa McNichols recently ventured to the Prince George’s County Sports and Learning Complex in Hyattsville, Maryland to check out the indoor track and was kind enough to provide her experience:
- Open to the public from 6 am to noon for FREE on weekdays.
- Check-in not required.
- Outside lanes reserved for walkers
- Inside lanes reserved for runners
“I would say this is a great option for winter workouts, as long as you know what you are getting into with a lot of turns. I only had to run around one person one time. If anyone can adjust their schedule and meet me by 6am, we can be at the track by 8am. I would always call a day ahead just to make sure you can gain access. I will take the express lanes to get here next time and can probably get here from Alexandria within 30 minutes.”
