The 2015 edition of the Boston Marathon featured nine members of the Northern Virginia Running Club family including; Marc Stokes, Cory Schwartz,Mike Naff,Abhaya Menon,Erin Masterson,Ben Brooks,Mark Drosky,Jay Wind and Stephanie Lundeby.
Overall it was another amazing weekend of racing for NOVA, capped off by a number of our members tackling 26.2 miles in Boston and posting some impressive times!
From Coach Jerry:
I have one word to describe NOVA’s performance at Boston today–wow! We had a slew of really, really excellent races from our crew, in extremely challenging conditions. The performance that immediately jumps out at me is Erin’s 3:08:34, which is a 6 minute PR, on a tough course on a tougher day. To make it that much more impressive, Erin was ill less than 2 weeks ago, which affected her ability to do the final sharpening workouts.
Erin has run hundreds of races over the years, but there can be no doubt that this was the best race of her life. Well done! The guys also ran very well, and while the conditions prevented the PRs that would have come on a better day, Cory, Marc, Coast Guard Mike, Abhaya, Ben, and Mark all deserve credit for their gutty performances. They’re all proof that hard work pays off, and we’re definitely going to see PRs from them the next time out.
