Dr. David Goodwin is an orthopedic surgeon with a focus on the operative and nonoperative management of athletic injuries in sports medicine. This includes everything from shoulder injuries and hip arthroscopy (with labral tears and IT band syndrome) to achilles tendinitis/tears, and literally everything around the knee (patellofemoral syndrome, meniscus, ACL, etc…).
Dave is local to the DC metro area, having grown up in Columbia MD, attending undergraduate and medical school at George Washington University, and completing his residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Dave and his wife, Liz, just recently returned to DC after spending a year in NYC while Dave was doing a fellowship in sports medicine.
Dave and Liz joined the NOVA gang last week during the weekly Tuesday track session, participating in a challenging 3×1600 workout. Despite what must have been a painful introduction to the club, Dave was upbeat and is happy to be part of the NOVA Running Club family.
Dave is now joining a new orthopedic surgery practice out in Chantilly and would love to get the word out to our NOVA community, if anyone is looking for a good orthopedist experienced in treating running/sports related injuries. He would be very happy to take care of any needs of the NOVA Running Club, and can offer all nonoperative management modalities of athletic injuries,(injections, PRP, stem cells, etc) as well as getting people linked up with physical therapy. His practice does have a physical therapy office with two locations.
If you need an appointment with Dave, he can absolutely get in anyone from NOVA within 24-48 hours so there is no wait time for an appointment and a minimal amount of missed training from injury.
If you are in need of an immediate appointment, the best way to do this may be to email Dave directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
